I can’t remember when but somehow I learned to play the game of Chess and even today I surprise myself with how I can pick it back up after not playing for a long time. My kids though have yet to learn and I guess I never realized they didn’t know how to play, but then again how would they if I hadn’t taught them. Teaching them chess though was harder than I anticipated especially with them ranging from ages 8 to 13 years old. Knowing all the moves each piece can make and the rules are just something I know that it was hard for me to teach my kids that.
Story Time Chess is a game that teaches kids as young as 3 years old how to play chess by using a story of characters for each of the pieces. Using a story to teach something totally makes sense to me so much so that I can’t believe it hasn’t been done before!
Story Time Chess using silly stories, vibrant illustrations, custom chess pieces, a unique chess board, and an engaging card game to not just teach chess but to really understand it. Kids can start to learn patterns, strategies and problem solving while playing around with the pieces. Learning should be fun and not stressful!
Kids can start out with the full board and slowly as they get better they can start stripping away the aides that helped them. Once the players completely grasp the game they can flip the board over for a more “grown-up” version of chess without the silly characters.
To really stress the movements of the pieces there is an add-on card game that has players do certain moves, which really drills in what the pieces can do. Honestly, I found this super helpful and a nice addition to the game of chess.
Years ago my oldest received a “Learn to Play Chess” game and it honestly was so confusing even with me knowing how to play chess. We opened it up and closed it back up that day, never using. What I love about Story Time Chess is it is truly engaging and teaches kids through a story and physical fun pieces. I cannot even think of another product like it!
Chess is such a classic game that I believe everyone should learn how to play because it is a game not going anywhere. People have been playing chess for hundreds of years and will continue to play hundreds of years. I also feel you learn so much from playing chess that can help with other aspects of life.
You can learn more about Story Time Chess on the website and purchase it there as well.
