Learning to Read With Duolingo ABC

All three of my kids have struggled with reading and still do honestly. I feel like reading can be something you either like or you don’t but if you experience reading as something fun then you’ll want to continue it. When I was little there wasn’t much to do other than read and it was a big outing for me to ride my bike to the library. I escaped into books and still do as an adult. When my kids were little I feel like technology took over and my boys were all about cars and tech gadgets. My daughter loves to read but does need nudges to do it.

While kids today are surrounded by so many toys and gadgets to help kids with reading, there are also some great apps available. Duolingo ABC is an app designed for iPad that offers a hands-on way for your child to learn to read. If you search reading apps, it can be overwhelming to choose the right one. I mean you want the app to be fun and educational but also safe and worthwhile. Duolingo ABC was actually built with help from literacy and early-education experts to develop children’s skills in phonics, sight words, reading comprehension, and more. I have actually used the adult app Duolingo for Spanish and its amazing and I love that they have created a kids version specifically for reading.
