As I have said before dinnertime at my house is crazy to say the least. It can also be tough when I am gone with the kids all day and am sick of fast food. Sometimes too its nice to have a homemade snack or meal that wasn’t homemade by me!
Delicae Gourmet is a company based out of Florida owned by a husband and wife, Lenny and Barbara, who retired from the music industry to grow orchards and gardens. (Side note: The husband was a guitarist for Tina Turner and the wife worked with the Beatles! See here for pictures.) Barbara has a flair for creating unique and exciting sauces and condiments, and so forth inspired Delicae Gourmet. They use only the finest fruits, vegetables, herbs, and spices to create their delicious blends. Each batch is even individually hand prepared to assure high quality and taste.
From appetizers to desserts to condiments and sauces, Delicae Gourmet does it all. Some items are Bread Dippers, Chocolate Sauces, Chutneys, Coffee Jellies, Savory Mustards, Dipping Sauces, Sea Salt Rubs, Tapenades, and Pasta Sauces. You name it, and they basically have a version! Well now Delicae Gourmet is featuring Slow Cooker Dinners and Soups!
Well with the cold weather coming, I decided to break out my crock-pot and start “crocking!” I received 4 yummy Slow Cooker meals and I couldn’t wait to start cooking them. What I love about these meals is that they take 5-10 minutes to prepare and then you put it all in the crock-pot and forget about it for 4-8 hours. Now the Delicae Gourmet packages do not contain all the ingredients as they are freeze dried, but all you have to add depending on the meal type is the meat, water, can of soup, or broth. I actually had the items I needed already.
I picked out the Southwest Roadhouse Chili, Country French Pork & White Bean, Grandma’s Country Chicken & Rice, and Southern Italian Pasta e Fagioli to try out and so far the two I tried have been better than I could have imagined. I first made the Grandma’s Country Chicken and Rice and I added boneless chicken breasts (it calls for regular chicken legs but I only had boneless) and some soup and 7 hours later we were in heaven. My husband actually said it was the best Chicken and Rice he ever had and asked if we could have it every night! Even my sons were eating it and they can be picky eaters sometimes. The meal tasted so fresh and flavorful, not what I expected from some packets of spices and freeze-dried vegetables and rice.
We also tried the Southwest Roadhouse Chili and that was also just right. I was worried it would be too spicy, but it was perfect, and I am a wuss who can’t handle spicy! For this recipe I had to add cooked ground beef and some canned tomatoes and Delicae Gourmet took care of the rest. Again this meal more than pleased my family.
Each Crock Pot meal costs $5.95 and even though you have to add a few ingredients on your own, it is definitely worth it. Even for a special treat or to keep in your pantry for emergencies. I even think these meals would make a great gift for someone, as they are gourmet meals and who wouldn’t love something homemade! Shipping is from UPS and for me it costs about $8, but it is still worth it I think.
Since I only tried the Crock Pot meals, I can’t vouch for all the other products, but if I can only imagine how delicious they would are. Delicae Gourmet definitely knows what they are doing in the kitchen so I’m sure every item is scrumptious!
