MY THOUGHTS:
Now I am by no means an adventurous cooker and really like to follow recipes. So I will say the only flaw with the George Foreman Smart Kitchen is that it doesn’t come with recipes. (Usually with George Foreman products there are some in the instruction manual, but not with this product.) Therefore I had to think outside the box with this appliance. The Smart Kitchen really is a “kitchen” all-in-one, it takes the place of a stove-top, microwave, rice cooker, steamer, and more! First off the Smart Kitchen is basically two products – the bottom piece is the cooker with the heating attachment and on top sits the steamer basket, covered with a tempered glass lid.
On the bottom you can cook many things such as meat, rice, and probably a lot more but I am drawing a blank. The top basket is great for steaming vegetables, shrimp and other side dishes. What I love about this Smart Kitchen is its ability to cook both white and brown rice with the push of a button, and yes it cooks up to 26 cups! I only need to make about 6 cups for my family so there is tons of room leftover. The nice thing is that the rice does not overcook, fluffs up nicely, and doesn’t need to be constantly watched – just pop in the rice and water then turn the setting to whichever rice you are cooking. I found then that it is great to put stir fry vegetables on top for a one-stop quick meal. I haven’t tried it yet but I read you can sear meat in the bottom so I think next I will make some beef in the bottom to go with my stir-fry!
Also, with the Smart Kitchen you get a non-stick spoon, which is great because I have a tendency to scratch the bottoms of appliances and pots, although I suppose a wooden spoon would be sufficient. The heating element has digital buttons that cooks it as Steam, White Rice, Brown Rice and the different Modes are Warm, Simmer, Cook, Brown and Sear. Along with the different Modes is the different temperatures the food will cook at ranging from 180 degrees to 500 degrees. It is so easy to use and set.
Normally after cooking a big meal, I have tons of dishes to deal with. With the Smart Kitchen I cook everything in it, bring it right to my table to serve it, and easily wash the non-stick pot. The pot even has great handles to easily carry it. The plug is only about 2 feet long but that is typical for kitchen appliances. I would highly recommend the Smart Kitchen for any mom (or dad) looking to speed up mealtimes or if you are trying to eliminate other appliances for more of an all-in-one. The Smart Kitchen would also be great for small apartments or dorms since it doesn’t take up a lot of room and makes high quality meals!
