MY THOUGHTS:

I have an older Brother labelmaker and I have to say I was both impressed and intimated by the P-Touch PT-1290.  It first off looks so sleek and non-bulky.  It was super easy to install the label tape as you just popped in the cartridge and its first use it feeds it through.  I was disappointed that it took 6 “AAA” batteries which are not included but you can buy a AC adapter for it.  I also don’t think it will eat through batteries that I will be replacing them anytime soon.

The PT-1290 is definitely a labelmaker that can do so many awesome things.  Besides the basic label projects, the Deco Mode is what I think really makes this labelmaker stand out.  The different designs are so cool and unique and make labeling some things so much easier.  For example, one of the Deco Modes has writing on the top and bottom that would be perfect to fold over a folder or something.  There are also some that allow two lines of typing which I have never seen before as well as some with some little designs.  I will say though it does help to keep the instructions handy as there is a sheet with all the Deco codes so you know which one you want to use as well as how to get certain characters to print (including hearts, No sign, Poison, Phone, Email, and more!)

I have big dreams for the PT-1290 to tackle my spring cleaning projects and help me get ready for this baby coming!  I am labeling shelves in the closet (since my husband is clueless about girl clothes), plugs in our office, storage containers in our basement, and our toy bins in the playroom, and that is just for starters!  I am going to be a labeling queen with the PT-1290!  Its funny because I never really use my old label maker but this one makes me want to organize!

One thing I love about the Brother Label Systems in general is that there are so many different tapes available that they make it easy to customize and label any project.  The standard tapes come in a wide variety of colors, styles and sizes as well as resist water, grease or grime, fading and abrasion.  They can even be outdoors!  There are also specialty tapes available, such as Extra Strength, Tamper Evident, Fabric Iron and more.

Overall, I recommend checking out the Brother PT-1290 for your home and office needs as it is really a versatile label maker that will definitely help get you in the right direction with organizing and customizing!
