ZeroWater Pitcher Review

ABOUT:

The ZeroWater Pitcher uses a innovative five-stage filtration process for cleaner, fresher water without tapping into your pluming line, using bulky water coolers or wasting money on bottled water.  You can also learn more at the ZeroWater Facebook Page!

MY THOUGHTS:

Now I love my house and area, but I admit our water is not the greatest.  We have well water and even though it goes through our water softener, it still is not good Lake Michigan water (or at least that’s what were used to in the Chicagoland area.)  Even though regular lake water is treated in a chemical plant, it still gets chemicals put in which get transferred to you.  I was curious to try out how ZeroWater purifies water to the way water should; crisp, clean and fresh.  It is the only filtration that fits the FDA definition of purified bottle water, but at a fraction of the cost of ordinary carbon filters.

What I love initially about ZeroWater is that it was actually tested (and certified) by the FDA for its removal of several minerals.    I have tried other pitchers before and I always wondered if they actually did anything, and maybe they did but the ZeroWater is awesome because it includes a TDS meter to ensure your getting the best-tasting water possible.  (TDS stands for “Total Dissolved Solids” which represents the amount of dissolved substances that can negatively affect the way water tastes.

While ZeroWater does use filters they are not the conventional carbon water filters, but rather a patented Ion Exchange System with Five-Stage Technology for 100% of dissolved solids that have been completely removed.  For example, meter readings for tap water average between 75 and 300, conventionally filtered water measures between 30-500 and bottled water measures between 0 and 350 – with ZeroWater you can be sure to get 100% great-tasting water!

Using the ZeroWater Pitcher is super easy.  The TDS meter has replaceable batteries in it (already included), snap in the filter cartridge and you just fill your pitcher with water.  First I decided I would test my water without the filter, it was 577.  I even tested my sink filter which is supposed to filter out a lot and it only lowered a little bit from 577.  Then I filled the pitcher with water and tested that and it lowered to 0!  Unfortunately though since my water is pretty bad, the Zero Water sheet says the filter life will not be as long (8 gallons or less for 501+).

Overall though I love how easy it is to test my water with the ZeroWater TDS meter, fill the pitcher, fit it nicely in my fridge with its sleek design, and pour it using the spout!  While the pitcher does fill slowly since it has to filter and doesn’t hold as much as maybe other pitchers (the filter seems a lot bigger than other pitchers I have tried), I do like that I can actually verify my water is clean and fresh.   I have only been using the ZeroWater filter a week now and the water is truly crisp and fresh.  I am hoping I don’t go through filters like crazy but so far we like the ZeroWater Pitcher!
