Old Navy “Attendance Pledge Initiative” Story (& Giveaway Ends 10/13)

ABOUT:

Old Navy has just launched a new initiative to help boost attendance at schools in the Chicago Public School District.  Old Navy has asked students to pledge to go to school every day.  To start off the initiative they recently awarded 200 lucky students who took the “attendance pledge” on August 31^st at the State Street Old Navy location, $50 gift cards and special discounts to kick-off the school year in Chicago.  To further encourage students to attend daily, Old Navy will give gift cards to all students at the four Chicago Public Schools (Wentworth, Oglesby, Westcott and Woods Elemtary schools) who participated in the kick-off if they receive perfect attendance at the end of the year.

MY THOUGHTS:

Now even though this is something that Old Navy is doing for Chicago Public Schools, I think it is a great way to give back and I hope initiatives like this spread.  I am not sure how it is in other areas, but I know here in Chicagoland attendance is always an issue so I think this is a great way to get kids interested in perfect attendance and encouraging attendance in general.

My son is just in pre-school but I do feel it is important for him to go everyday and I will hopefully instill that in him as he grows.  School is five-days a week for a reason and it is a great way for kids to further their future and stay out of trouble, especially here in Chicagoland.  Also, back to school clothes shopping is so important to kids and whether your school was chosen for the Old Navy opportunity or you just shop there, you will always get a great deal!
