DVD Review: “Immortals”

Immortals [Blu-ray]

Released: March 6, 2012

Studio: Universal

Running Time: 110 minutes

ABOUT:

Immortals explodes off the screen with action-packed battles, mythological adventure and an all-star cast. In this epic tale of vengeance and destiny, power-mad King Hyperion (Mickey Rourke) threatens to destroy all of humanity on his maniacal quest to obtain the ultimate weapon – the legendary Epirus Bow that gives the power to unleash war on both Heaven and Earth. But Theseus (Henry Cavill), a heroic young villager chosen by the gods, rises up to stop Hyperion’s brutal rampage. With supernatural help from the beautiful oracle Phaedra (Freida Pinto), Theseus embraces his destiny and leads a fierce band of warriors in a desperate fight for the future of mankind.

MY THOUGHTS:

I am not sure where it came from but all the sudden I like action movies like “Immortals.”  It is a movie that involves Greek mysthology and war.  King Hyperion (bad guy Mickey Rourke) wants the Epirus Bow in order to release the Titans and destroy the human race, but Theseus is not going to let that happen.  He quickly builds his confidence and takes over as leader to stop the king, even recruiting some fighters.  There is lots of blood, fighting and Mickey Rourke as the bad guy was awesome.  I hated his character, but I was supposed too.

The movie has a great story line that shows Theseus, King  Hyperion, the Titans, the Gods, the Oracle and more!  I cringed at parts that were gory but overall the movie had great characters and plot line.  Even if an action movie isn’t your usual cup of tea, I recommend checking it out.  I find mythology so interesting and love seeing how different directors perceive it.

BUY IT: You can buy “Immortals [Blu-ray]” wherever DVDs are sold or check it out online for a suggested price of $26.99.

  • I am into Greek mythology and Immortals is a movie about just that. The movie did start to drag a bit towards the end, but I loved all the action! I got it earlier in the mail Blockbuster @Home. One big reason why I like Blockbuster @Home is because I can rent many movies as soon as they release like Immortals by mail or in store. I also have the option to stream different movies to my computer or iPad anywhere I am, such as when I’m on lunch at DISH where I work or in the library waiting for class to start. When you’re watching these action movies, nothing looks better than Blu-Ray!
