    Dremel is a company that makes long lasting products with an almost endless list of uses for their tools.  There are three Dremel tools available:  Rotary, Multi-Max, Trio, and Saw-Max.  The tools allow you to do a variety of projects around your house including:  cut, sand, repair, restore and more depending on which Dremel tool you are using.  The tools work on all sorts of different materials and there are accessories to add onto your tools.

    MY THOUGHTS:

    My husband is by no means a handyman, but he can do basic stuff around the house and he knows his limitations.  Out of the Dremel products available, I knew the Multi-Max would be one he would use the most.  The Multi-Max is used for cutting, grinding, sanding, scraping, and grout removal.

    First off, I love that this tool comes in its own plastic case to store everything so our garage stays just a little bit cleaner!  It is also much easier to grab and take with you – no more searching for pieces and accessories.  My husband loves the 12 –volt Lithium-Ion batteries (yes you get two of them and a one-hour charger!)  Holding the Multi-Max is comfortable and overall it is really easy to use.  He was super excited to use it for grout removal, but it actually only comes with pads for sanding so he needs to pick up the grout tool accessories at the local hardware store.  So because he was super excited to test it out, he put on the sanding paper and started smoothing out this piece of wood we use as a tabletop.  The wood had gotten a little scratachy and I was worried about splinters, so it was super nice that my husband was able to smooth this out within minutes.  Sanding is just one of the projects you can tackle and my husband can’t wait to try the Dremel Multi-Max out in other areas of our house!

    It really is a versatile tool and I admit it is fun.  I am typically afraid of power tools but the Multi-Max is not big or clunky, but is easy to hold and use, not to mention comfortable.  I felt like I could maybe do a few projects of my own!  Our next big project is grout removal as we will be re-tiling our bathroom, and I know the Multi-Max is going to definitely come in handy.  Normally my husband would have to take out the grout by hand (maybe with a chisel) so a power tool like the Multi-Max is going to at least save my husband from a few headaches!  There are just so many different accessories you can purchase for it too that my husband’s eyes lit up when he realized how much one tool could do.

      I have lots of dings and dents (and holes) in my drywall that need patching and the Multi-Max would help out with that. I need to finish installing the shelves in my linen closet, but the need sanding and finishing first. I want to finish my basement and that will require lots of outlet and switch holes in lots of drywall… trust me, there is never a shortage of work to do around our house.

      I covet Dremel! I’d use this to get me moving on redoing the wall above the master shower – removing (carefully, so as not to mess up the rest of the wall) the existing plaster, fitting new green backerboard, then tiling and grouting!

      A project that I need to tackle is replacing a few old tiles in the kitchen with some new ones. The Dremel would make it much easier. I’ve done this without one so I’m pretty sure it would be. 🙂

      OMG I never CONSIDERED being able to use this to carve pumpkins with. Every year I to at least 2 (usually more though) very detailed, artistic pumpkins. This would be a WONDERFUL tool to help with the project and would probably same me from a my hands aching after holding knives in weird ways to get details right.

      We have some times with pinecones and owls on them in our bathroom. I would love to use this to remove those tiles and replace them with a nice glass mosaic tile. We also need to recaulk the bathroom and I am dreading pulling out the old caulk by hand!

      The Multi Max tool would be perfect to refinish the antique Deacon’s Bench that I bought. It needs to be repaired in a couple of places and then sanded and refinished.

      This Dremel Tool would certainly make the job much easier.

      I think I like new and innovative power tools as much as my Husband does!
