Milk is one excuse I have to go shopping. With two kids drinking milk, one on While Milk and the other on 2%, plus what my husband and I drink, we go through a lot of milk! We actually go through about 3 gallons a week, more if I make cookies! My sons drink milk with no problem, sometimes I let my 2 year old added chocolate powder, but my husband and I are not big milk drinkers. I of course have cereal with milk, but I don’t usually crave for a glass of milk, unless dessert is involved!
Well thanks to the MomCentral Milk Council Blog Tour that I am participating in, I was encouraged to check out Whymilk.com. At Whymilk.com there is not only tons of neat tips and facts, but also awesome recipes! The facts too were very interesting and shocking. For example, out of a survey of more than 1,000 moms, they reported fruit drinks and slushies among their children’s top summertime drinks. I know I am one of the 84% of moms that is looking for a healthy beverage alternative, and that is where milk fits in. To spice up milk for my 2 year old I add a little chocolate or strawberry powder when he is begging for juice, that way at least he is getting milk and he thinks it is fun because of the changing color!
Not only is milk a healthy alternative to juice and other sugary drinks, but it is also very cost effective. At less than 25 cents per gallon on an eight ounce serving, milk provides more nutrients per penny than almost any other beverage option in the supermarket. Other than the well known vitamin D in milk, it also provides eight other essential nutrients.
So if your family is not milk drinkers or even if they are and are looking for something different, definitely check out whymilk.com and see what it has to offer. I know I am always looking for new things to try with my kids, and whymilk.com is definitely helping me and my family become healthier snackers through its great recipes.
