Bing is awarding a quarter-million dollars in prize money divided among four schools in need, and every vote counts! America is asked to vote on the 15 Our School Needs finalists as determined by the panel of judges, winners will be announced Tuesday November 9. The prize money will go through DonorsChoose.org, a non-profit website where public school teachers can post classroom projects that need funding. I actually received a gift card in the past for DonorsChoose.org and it is a really neat website where you choose projects submitted by teachers to donate money to, some of the projects are for books, headphones, videos, or just anything to help further their classroom learning. The entry with the most votes wins $100k and the 3 others will each win $50k.
Here is a picture of singer Josh Groban who visited a local middle school in Queens, NY to drop off brand new musical instruments and participate in chorus class as part of the “Our School Needs” campaign kick-off.
My son is only in preschool and we haven’t heard too much about budget cuts yet, but I know so many other schools are facing these issues. A friend of mine was laid off as a teacher and it took her way to long to find a new position due to budget cuts in her school district. I think Bing is really doing something great by creating this contest because teachers and schools need so much help and so many people don’t even realize it.
Vote here for “Our School Needs” until November 7th. You can vote for up to FIVE different entries daily. You cannot vote for the same entry more than one time daily.
