ABOUT THE BOOK:
When you can see things others can’t, where do you look for the truth?
This paranormal murder mystery will have teens reading on the edge of their seats.
Clarity “Clare” Fern sees things. Things no one else can see. Things like stolen kisses and long-buried secrets. All she has to do is touch a certain object, and the visions come to her. It’s a gift.
And a curse.
When a teenage girl is found murdered, Clare’s ex-boyfriend wants her to help solve the case–but Clare is still furious at the cheating jerk. Then Clare’s brother–who has supernatural gifts of his own–becomes the prime suspect, and Clare can no longer look away. Teaming up with Gabriel, the smoldering son of the new detective, Clare must venture into the depths of fear, revenge, and lust in order to track the killer. But will her sight fail her just when she needs it most?
MY THOUGHTS:
When I first picked up “Clarity” I didn’t know what to expect. It is a Young Adult book with bigger font and is a very quick read. The book is about Clare (real name Clarity) who has supernatural powers, along with her mom and brother. They live in the tourist town of Cape Cod and the author writes the book so well that I felt like I was walking along the beach and boardwalk with the book characters.
So Clare has visions when she touches items, her mom can read thoughts and her brother can communicate with dead people. And yes they are teased for it around the town. Then a murder happens and Clare is asked to help on the side. She gets tangled between two boys, but don’t worry she doesn’t go past first base with either of them (so its appropriate for young girls.) The whole supernatural part is not creepy but rather flows nicely with the story. The murder mystery has you guessing over who the killer is and I admit I was clueless until the end. It is a great story, although it leaves some spots open at the end for the reader to fill in. I really liked the book overall and I would recommend it to young girls and up (I am almost 30 and liked it!)
