You know how there are some things you remember about a family member’s house that you can never forgot. Well one of those things for me is Russian nesting dolls that my grandma owns. She is not Russian, she’s actually Norwegian, and now that I think of it I never asked her where she got them. Ever since I can remember though she has had those Dolls sitting on her windowsill in the kitchen.
When I was little I was absolutely fascinated by them and thought they were so cool how they fit inside each other. I probably spent a good hour each time I was over there when I was little just putting them together and taking them apart. Even to this day, she still has them on her windowsill!
I had no clue how popular these nesting dolls, also known as Matryoshka Dolls, were and how there was such a wide selection available. You can buy them so they are the same doll but different sizes or even a whole family that fits inside each other! The nice ones appear to be hand painted yet still reasonably priced. As weird as it is, I will definitely be picking up a set for my daughter (I know she is not even born yet) when she gets old enough to play nicely with them, until them she will get the nesting blocks or other similar toys they sell.
