When my second son was born, our first son acted out a little bit. He wasn’t all that bad, but he did do some sneaky things that he knew better than to do. One day I went to use the bathroom and noticed that the toilet was not flushing as well as it should. I didn’t think much of it because it was still working and the pipes were old. We were also trying to sell the house so I just hoped that it sold before we had to do any major plumbing reconstruction.
Well one day the toilet just wouldn’t flush anymore and it was the main bathroom so we needed it fixed asap. Luckily my dad is pretty handy and came over to look at it. He asked if the boys threw anything done it and I of course said “No.” I mean Aidan knew better and anyways he rarely went into the bathroom anyways. Well my dad tried to plunge and when that didn’t work he had to borrow a toilet rodder to see if something clogged it. Most men would have given up and called a plumber at that point, but my dad is stubborn and wouldn’t give up. He ended up taking the whole toilet off the base and shaking it repeatedly over the bathtub, and out came a plastic paperweight! And that point we needed a sewage ejector pump. My little sneak had somehow gotten the paperweight off my desk and tossed it in the toilet then flushed – not my son I thought! I couldn’t believe I didn’t see him do it or how much work it caused, not to mention the cost of a plumber if we had to pay one!
