I received tickets in exchange for sharing my honest opinion.
Okay, so when we arrived in Tennessee one thing we noticed is there are a ton of mountain coasters. Honestly, it can be a little overwhelming figuring out which to choose but once I read that the Rocky Top Mountain Coaster is the longest coaster in the area I knew we had to ride it.
Now the coaster is open night and day and both offer unique experiences. We chose nighttime because that worked in our schedule and honestly the coaster looked amazing all lit up in the dark.
The Rocky Top Mountain Coaster offers over 9 minutes of twists, turns, tunnels, and surprises along the way. In the dark especially it was a surprise because we didn’t know where we were going. There are four uplights and four drops and just when you think the ride is done, you turn a corner and keep going.
If you ride in the daytime you can see the over 20 acres of beautiful smoky mountain scenery which would be a reason to ride it again if you did nighttime the first time. To control the cart you just push or pull a lever to go fast or slow, we found it easy to navigate. You definitely do get some speed if you are not braking but I didn’t feel unsafe at all, up to 30 MPH.
My 11-year-old daughter did ride with me as she is tiny and was nervous to go alone. My boys and husband went alone.
Want to ride again? There is even a discounted price for a second ride. Oh and they are open rain or shine (just not thunderstorms.)
