All businesses carry insurance and while employees may not want to take advantage of it, there are times they should. If you were hurt while on the job, your workplace should be responsible for helping you. Being injured at work may not just mean medical bills but also loss of wages and personal time. Now I am not saying to sue your employer but there are times to file a claim for workers compensation to help you get through your injury.
Here are a few things to consider if you are not sure if you need a lawyer to help you with your claim:
If you file a claim at work and are denied, a lawyer can help you determine if you truly do have a case and deserve help.
If your injury is major then you will definitely need a lot of help and financial assistance, a lawyer can help you get what you need to cover all your lost wages and medical bills.
If you file a claim and are offered a settlement you should reach out to a lawyer. A settlement might mean that the company wants to wrap up the claim quickly and cheaply, you may be entitled to more compensation.
Hiring a lawyer means less stress for you since they become the middle man rather than you dealing with an insurance company directly. Yes the lawyer will need to get paid but they can usually get you more money than you were expected anyways and they deal with the problems so you don’t have to. It doesn’t hurt to talk to a lawyer and all it will cost is your time upfront while you determine if you truly do have a case. You’d hate to have an injury cost you money when insurance is there for that specific reason. Have questions? You can Learn more about workers’ compensation cases here.
