Electronics are just something that are a like a foreign language to me. I was in charge of finding a new television and Blu-ray player, and I was clueless. From HDMI to DVI or Plasma to LCD, I didn’t really know where to start so basically I started reading review and review on hot items. I also didn’t have a lot of money in the budget for them so I had to keep that in mind too. It is amazing how much taxes, warranties, and cables can add to the cost of a product. So I started looking on Black Friday and I even went out to Target at 4 AM but it was way to crowded to shop and after discovering they were sold out of most of the items I wanted already, I left.
So I started shopping online but I didn’t find anything in my price point so I figured I would wait until Cyber Monday. Thankfully I did because I got a 32 inch LCD tv for $249 and a Sony Blu-ray player for $119. The tv wasn’t as hard to narrow down as the Blu-ray player was. I had to decide if I wanted wireless or to connect via Ethernet cable. Even though I heard hooking it up directly to your modem is better for streaming quality, it wasn’t possible due to our modem setup. I also bought a regular DVD player to replace the off brand one in my bedroom that only sometimes works, it is amazing how cheap they are now!
Oh another thing I had to check for is whether or not my basement cable line could handle the new tv and Blu-ray player. We have pretty old lines down there and even though we have an Optimized Cable Company here, I had them come out and check our cable lines. So finally everything is ready to go and our new electronics arrived today! I am pretty proud of myself and am so excited to have a new tv and join the Blu-ray community!
