Honestly I rarely watch commercials, but when there is a catchy song playing I do tend to listen. Well if you caught the commercial for the new Verizon Android phone for 2010, then you would have heard the song “Magic” by MoZella.
MoZella is a Detroit-raised singer/songwriter who blends pop, soup, and jazz into her songs. She definitely does not look like what you would expect either, for having such a powerful and soulful voice! She originally was discovered by Madonna’s Maverick Records in 2004 and has toured with some awesome bands (Dave Matthews Band, Michelle Branch, Lifehouse, and more) and her music has been on numerous television shows and commercials. She has definitely come a long way since she came to LA to prove herself as a music star. Well MoZella has now signed with her hometown label, Motown Records and released her most recent CD “Belle Isle” (October 2009).
I got the chance to listen to “Belle Isle” and love it! Her music is catchy, full of emotion, and real sounding! All of her songs are different, which is a refreshing change from some artists who every song sounds the same. I actually also liked all her songs, which is rare as usually only the popular one on the radio is the good one. MoZella definitely has a great voice and I am looking forward to new music from her in the future!
