MY THOUGHTS:
With my first child I tried to breastfeed but he didn’t latch and I didn’t have the energy, so I pumped. We did supplement with formula though because he wasn’t gaining weight and because he was going to have open-heart surgery he needed to plump up. With my second child I did the same thing – pumped breastmilk and supplemented with formula. With both kids I used a manual pump that was pretty cheap and basic, but did the job.
With my new baby I decided it was finally time to check out an electric pump and see what I was missing. Luckily I have no lack of milk production (at least in the first few months of birth then it does slow down) but there are times when I could use an extra hand or speedier process.
The Evenflo SimplyGo Single Electric Breast Pump is great to have for those times when I only have a few minutes to pump or I just need the extra suction. It is only meant to be used twice a day so it is not a full time pump but it definitely does the job. I found that if I started out slow and then worked my way up through the different speeds that it didn’t hurt or bother me (I don’t recommend starting right off on a high setting as it will hurt.) I love that I can throw it all in the black case it came with and pump on the go, which we definitely we will be out and about a lot in the next few months to family and friends houses and events. The 5 oz. bottle is a good size and it even comes with a nipple so you can feed your baby right from the bottle if you’d like! I admit too I can also pump with the SimplyGo while blogging if I prop the pump just right! Overall, it is a great pump for minimal use or to keep for pumping on the go – I think I am going to keep mine in the car. Oh and it is great that it includes the AC adapter and the option for batteries.
Not sure which pump is right for you, Evenflo has five great breast pumps right now to work for your needs!

I look forward

I guess I’m spoiled because I work in a NICU, so we have lots of hospital grade pumps and private pumping rooms for both moms and employees to use. I can’t even imagine trying to maintain milk supply using a manual pump! An electric pump is definitely going on my registry when I get pregnant 🙂
