As a blogger and someone who shops a lot (probably too much) online, I am definitely curious about UPS My Choice. So I just joined My Choice this morning and already got my first notification! I received an email saying a package will be delivered today to my address – I didn’t have to go track the package or do any work. My Choice goes by your address/name that you register (you can even put in different versions of your name that the packages may come by so for me I added in my blog name since sometimes packages are addressed to Mom and More) and anything that is sent via UPS should notify you (at least that is my understanding.) I was so excited because I had no idea this particular package was coming today and it was nice to get the email – all for free!
For Free – Your UPS My Choice membership allows you to:
- Give authorization online for UPS to deliver packages without a signature when you’re not going to be home to sign in person
- Get proactive notifications via text, phone, or e-mail the day before a delivery
- Request your packages be delivered to The UPS Store® near you for pickup
- Have your packages delivered to another address
Do you need more insight into all your known inbound shipments and increased flexibility when it comes to rescheduling the delivery of your packages? Upgrade your UPS My Choice Membership to a Premium Membership. By upgrading to a UPS My Choice Premium membership you can:
- Manage and track all your home deliveries with a convenient, online calendar
- Designate where you would like our driver to leave your package (e.g. back porch)
- Get a confirmed two-hour window for home delivery
- Reschedule the delivery of a package while you’re on vacation
Right now I am fine with the free version but $40.00 for the Premium version isn’t bad either if you need those options.

Sorry but the My Choice Premium service was a big FAIL for me.
I signed up in December, paid my $40, and right before going out of town for a week in January, placed a “vacation hold” on all deliveries, with a redeliver date specified. (This is available with the paid service only.)
To my horror, I received a delivery confirmation email while out of town – a package had been left on my front steps. Of course, when I returned several days later, it was nowhere to be found. I’ll get a refund from the retailer, but the item was irreplaceable – an end-of-season style that was on back order and is now sold out.
AND I’ll get a refund from UPS for the $40 My Choice Premium fee. UPS Customer Service agreed that my hold was plainly in their system — the local dispatch center had apparently simply ignored it!
Great idea, but not ready for prime time yet.

Oh that sucks! I only have the free version but I would be ticked off if one of my packages disappeared when they should have taken care of it.
