ABOUT:
Find It Games is an award-winning maker of contained adventures such as their hide-and-seek fun in a sturdy cylinder for kids ages 8 to 98. Now for 2012 they have not only added a new cylinder called “On the Farm” (retail $23) but they have also added eye-catching historical jigsaw puzzles (retail $13.)
The new jigsaw puzzles are Pharaoh’s Egypt, On Dry Ground and Parade of Animals and belong to the puzzle series, Pieces of History. Once the puzzles are complete children (and adults) can search for hidden items appropriate to historical items (like in the Pharaoh’s of Egypt you can find the Eye of Horus.)
MY THOUGHTS:
On Dry Ground may seem like a typical 300 piece puzzle at first but it is so much more. The border of the puzzle features objects you need to find in the puzzle, so its like a puzzle within a puzzle! The objects too are not any random objects but have actual significance to a historical time. Then to even further your child’s (and yours) learning there is an Item Key featuring a description of each item.
Since my boys are young still this puzzle is a little hard for them so my husband and I plan on working on it after the kids go to bed. I figure once we put the puzzle together they (3 and 5 years old) can at least find the items in the picture. I have always been sad after I put a puzzle together because the challenge is done so it is nice to have something extra to work on! I have never seen a puzzle like this and love the historical learning built into it.
