The other day I wrote a post about windows and doors. I know it seems like strange as I do have really nice windows, but I do wish I could get some replacement windows. I have slowly been taking the screens out and removing the window protector stuff we blow-dried on, and I am noticing my windows are not as great as I thought. I have all wooden Pella windows and they are rotting a little bit it looks like. It actually looks like too that the windows were left open a lot during the rain which weathered the inside of the frames too.
My last house we used vinyl replacement windows because the wooden windows there were really old, so old some were painted shut and looked like they haven’t been opened in years! I was actually happy with those windows because I was able to swing the glass pane inside and easily clean them, not that we lived in that house long enough for me to really clean all of them! It was also a ranch style hosue so it was easy enough to go around outside and clean all the windows, but for a two-story house I can see those windows being a lifesaver!
We also had insulated vinyl siding on our last house, which I loved because it was so easily washed and we used good insulation. We now have brick and cedar siding, which looks nice, and I have no complaints. Luckily I don’t see our house really getting dirty on the outside which now that I think about it, our old vinyl siding did seem to get dirty a lot. Whether you have vinyl, brick, or wood siding or windows as long as they are insulated and not too old then you should have no problem!
