Lisa Noel is a woman who Shines as a woman, friend and mother. She has volunteered endless hours to Relay for Life (inspired by her mother’s own battle with cancer), Cub Scouts, Youth Soccer, Church mission trips and Vacation Bible School, PTO Treasurer, and is currently working on bettering her own school district. She inspires me because she not only volunteers so much of her time, she also raises three children (two of them in different sports) and works a full-time job outside the home. I feel blessed to have such an inspiring woman as my friend.
Lisa is a mother of three boys and honestly she amazes me with how she manages to keep everything going! She works full-time outside the house, works as a busy blogger and helps out with her son’s football and baseball teams. I have three young kids and am a stay at home mom, and I struggle!
Lisa started out volunteering when she was just 21 with the middle school and highschool youth groups. Again that is awesome of her, I was far from volunteering for anything when I was that age. She even volunteered with Vacation Bible School taking vacation vacation time from work to spend at her church helping out.
Back in 2004 Lisa started off fundraising with her mother who was battling her own cancer. Together they raised several thousand dollars but eventually her mom lost her battle with cancer, along the way losing her grandmother to brain cancer. She took time off since her mother has passed but is now ready to take part in the Making Strides for Breast Cancer 5k.
Cub Scouts is another committee she has worked with as she serves as the Merit Counselor, tracking all the awards/patches each boy (about 50 total) earns and she purchases then distributes the physical awards at monthly pack meetings. Again how does she find time to do this?!
Currently she has been working to start a nonprofit travel baseball league in her area, which she realized there is a huge desire for. She is hoping for something in her neighborhood to keep the kids out of the temptations that surround them everyday to get into trouble. That to me is going above and beyond being a dedicated mother.
Overall, Lisa is someone that I am so happy I took a chacne and met (we met at a train station sharing a cab for a blogger event.) She turned out to be someone I truly look up to and she is an aweome friend. If someone asked me to write about my accomplishments, my list wouldn’t be nearly as long as Lisa’s, which is why I nominated her as part of Yahoo’s Women Who Shine contest.

About Yahoo! Shine “Women Who Shine”:
Women Who Shine is Yahoo! Shine’s inaugural women’s recognition program. Nominate your peers, mentors, family and any other women in your community who inspire you and others with their extraordinary achievements. This program stands apart because the honorees are not the high-profile women or celebs you see in most other “Woman of the Year” or “Most Powerful Women” programs. It’s women nominating the local heroes in their communities and it is Shine’s readers, not an editorial staff, who decide who wins. For more info check out: http://bit.ly/women-who-shine.
