MY THOUGHTS:
Okay so honestly I am not a huge coffee drinker, but I do like tea and other hot drinks like hot chocolate. My husband on the other hand is loopy if he doesn’t have his morning coffee. Well the Keurig is the best solution for both of us! It brews the one cup or so that my husband drinks (usually we waste a whole pot of coffee everyday) and I can make tea and hot chocolate. I even just read you can use it to just brew hot water to use for soups!
I think one of the reasons I don’t drink coffee at home is because I hate to admit it but I have no idea how to work our fancy coffeemaker. Well the Keurig is so simple, I still am in shock how easy it is! Right out of the box it is basically ready to go (you just have to run some hot water through it first). You fill the left side water reservoir, put in a Keurig cup, push down the handle and pick the cup size (which even has cute little pictures!) Also, I was skeptical but you can fit a tall coffee mug underneath, you just have to slide out the drip tray.
Okay so there are some goods and not-so goods about this coffee maker. First, you can’t brew a whole pot at once, which if you are having a party it could slow you down. Next the Keurig Cups can be a little pricey, but to counter that you can get them on sale especially at Kohls or Amazon. You can even buy a Keurig My K-Cup Reusable Coffee Filter which allows you to use your own coffee so you don’t have to buy the Keurig cups. Now onto the goods – Everyone can choose whatever coffee they like. For example, my husband loves Hazelnut but when my family is over they prefer non-flavored traditional coffee, well now everyone can make their own cups! Another benefit is no more wasting a whole pot of coffee when you know you are only going to drink one-cup! I think it is great too that there are so many popular brands of coffee available so you can make Starbucks, Gloria Jeans, or Caribou Coffee (just to name a few) at home. Finally, I love that this single machine can make coffee for my husband, tea for me, hot chocolate for our boys, and soup all within minutes of each other! Did I mention too that every Keurig cup we tried so far too was so delicious and yummy! Oh and I also love that there is no coffee pot to clean – just the mug you were going to have to wash anyways.
So overall, I think the Keurig is awesome for people that maybe don’t drink a pot of coffee (it would add up fast to make a bunch of Keurig cups), like a variety of flavors, wants name brands at home, or is a couple with someone like my husband and I where one is a coffee drinker and the other a tea lover! So if you are looking for a last minute Mother’s Day idea (or early shopping for Father’s Day) I would recommend the Keurig Special Edition Brewing System. It does come with 12 K-Cups so you might want to pick up some additional packs or a cute coffee mug!
BUY IT: You can buy the Keurig Special Edition Brewing System for $139.95 from the Keurig website with Free Shipping or find it at your local mass merchandiser.
