My boys love our iPad, so I am always looking for ways for them to interact with it. I want them to do more than just click the screen and watch videos, so I am loving all the new add-on accessories and educational tools companies are coming out with. Cypher Kids is one company that has combined flash cards with technology by giving kids both! Yes not just flash cards on the screen but actual flash cards your kids can hold and then interact with on the iPad.
So my 4 year old and I went to our local Target to buy the Cypher Interactive Cards, which is found in the Apple products section in Electronics.
Actually Iron Man came shopping with me 🙂
There are three varieties to choose from:
I chose the Animal Adventures which includes 18 animal cards to scan and interact with.
It was definitely a toss up between the Letters and Numbers but we have so much with those things that I thought the animals would be something different for them. My boys thought it was amazing to scan the cards and have the animals pop up on the screen. They picked out their animals and were ready to scan them. I think they scanned all of them and loved how the 3D image was left on the screen, even without the card right in front. So they were putting animals pretty much all over the house and themselves! In addition to displaying the animals in 3D the cards, it does say each card is packed with silly sounds but I was unable to get that to work. My boys though had fun with the cards themselves, hopefully we will get the sounds working because that would be fun.
Here are some of my screenshots:
You can see the animal anywhere – here is the shark swimming around our living room:
Just scan the card and the animal pops up easily:
