Gone are the days when we could leave our doors unlocked. Everyday the news seems to get worse and worse with burglaries, killings, and other acts of violence. While I can’t protect my family while they are out on their own, one place I can protect them is when they are home with me. With three kids and so many crazy people out there, I worry. It probably doesn’t help that I watch a lot of true crime shows which show so many crimes that don’t even make the news.
Home protection is something my husband and I have been thinking about. While we do live in a nice neighborhood, bad things can happen anywhere. As far as home protection goes there are two things I can think of: owning a gun or a home security system. A gun is not something I would consider. Honestly I am scared of them and would probably hurt myself or my family trying to use it. Yes I know I could take classes on gun safety but I prefer to consider other options. So my other option is a home security system. I have been browsing around online and there are so many options to consider and I am confident we can find an affordable plan.
A Wireless Security System would definitely give me peace of mind that I am doing a little something extra to keep my family safe. Of course it would only work if we turn it on everyday which I know will be something we will have to get used to. I am totally clueless about them though as I don’t know anyone who has one so it is definitely something I need to research since I don’t want to be replacing it anytime soon.
What do you think of home security systems?

An even better idea is to form a neighborhood watch group- surely you know someone in your family or at work/on your block who has military experience? Ask him ( or her) for assistance-they’ll be flattered & more than willing to help, especially now with mass killings happening recently. By the way, if you have kids, consider adopting a dog: Kids with pets are less likely to have allergies later in life, you’ll also have a canine guard who will be on watch 24/7.
