Slowly but surely we are painting all the rooms in our house. Luckily the walls in our new house were all beige so it wasn’t too boring, like white would have been (no offense if you have white walls, but I was in apartments too long!) So my husband is painting the rooms he can and we hired a painter to paint some of the higher ceilinged rooms and the playroom since we were painting it 2 colors. Yep our playroom now has two bright green rooms and two bright blue walls. So as I was emptying the playroom, to prepare it for the painter, I couldn’t help but look at all the toys I was taking out of there.
Now I have two boys, and they are definitely boys, as they like cars, trucks, and blocks. I did wonder how could trucks be considered Educational kids toys, as they look pretty basic to me. I suppose the whole gross motor skills and being creative can be educational, but then I started wondering if we really need a hundred trucks and cars. I don’t think I am over-estimating either, but yes I am including all the little Hot Wheels we have too.
We do have quite a few board games but both boys are having trouble with sharing and taking turns so game time isn’t exactly fun right now. I thought we had a lot of puzzles, but I feel like all of our puzzles are too easy or boring, and they hardly get used anymore. Oh and we have about four bins of blocks, all different sizes, colors, and types. I suppose though all toys are educational in some aspect, I just need to figure out how to present them to my kids so they do something constructive with them!

Toys seem to over take us in our house. My son was all boy with trucks and cars. He still has some…it’s funny to watch him play.
Good luck!
