Beauty first off hates her name because she feels that she is not beautiful. This book is a journey of self-discovery, self-confidence, and self-discovery. I love how it is so raw and not full of fluff, everything is something that someone can relate to. She is just such a strong woman and I can hear her “ROAR!”
Throughout the book, I felt bad for Beauty as one bad thing after another seemed to happen, but she took it all with strides and surprised me. She is such a strong woman who just hasn’t found herself yet. I was really able to empathize with her relate to her struggles as I watched her grow. I found myself getting upset with the people that wronged her and cheering he as she succeeds. I laughed at how she found humor in even the worst situations. What is strange too is that usually I don’t like Fiction books like this as I prefer Non-Fiction, but this book was a refreshing change of pace for me and I found myself quickly reading it.
Here is the description from Hachette Book:
Everyone in the world, it seems, is either prettier or thinner (or both) than Beauty Marie Zavala. And the only thing “B” resents more than her name is the way others judge her for the extra 40 pounds she can’t lose. At least she has her career. Or did, until she overhears her boss criticizing her weight and devising a scheme to keep her from being promoted. Enter B’s new tax accountant, a modern-day matchmaker determined to boost B’s flagging self-esteem by introducing her to rich, successful men who will accept her for who she is. As B’s confidence blossoms, so do her fantasies of revenge. But will B find true happiness or true disaster when she unwittingly falls for the one guy she shouldn’t?
B as in Beauty is a Fiction paperback that is 352 pages long and is being released 4/24/2009. Are you dying to read the book now?
WIN IT: 5 Lucky Readers will win a copy of “B as in Beauty” Check out the Hachette Book website and tell me what other New Release sparks your interest.
