    So we are popcorn fanatics in my house! I love to try different flavors and I am always looking for new and fun snacks. So when I came across 479 Popcorn I was super excited. Not only did a mom create it, but it is also an organic snack made with high quality ingredients. Oh and did I mention that it also comes in the funkiest and yummiest flavors!
    479 Popcorn Flavors:

    • Alderwood Smoked Sea Salt

    479 Popcorn began when creator, Jean Arnold, was a child and the only popcorn her mother served was organic popcorn from a stovetop popper. Since then Jean experimented with making her own organic popcorn and flavoring it with exotic seasonings that were inspired by her international upbringing and training at Le Cordon Bleu in London. Why is it called 479 Popcorn? Well, 479 degrees Fahrenheit is the optimal temperature for popping corn. So Jean started popping corn by hand in San Francisco with her husband and now she is selling her wonderful popcorn at 479 Popcorn!

    479 Popcorn Features:

    • Popped in heavy copper kettles in small batches and seasoned while still warm

    • Never mass manufactured or stored in a warehouse. It is made to order, then shipped out same day.

    • USDA certified organic.

    • Only highest quality ingredients are used from local farmers around the world.

    • Only farmers who support sustainable organic farming and fair trade practices are used. Spices used are from growers who follow certain methods of cultivation and production, from seeing to harvest to stringent storage requirements.

    So now you may be wondering why choose organic popcorn? Well by using old-fashioned organic popcorn, the distinct corny, nutty taste, and enticing toasty aroma is kept. So since the popcorn is not mass-produced and seasoned with artificial additives flavorings, it is easier to enjoy the actual popcorn. 479 Popcorn actually comes from a small family-owned farm since 1945 and uses strict sustainable farming practices that rely on rotations and natural compost.

    Not only does 479 Popcorn taste fresh and full of seasonings, but also it is better for you than conventional popcorn. What I was surprised to find out is that conventional, non-organic popcorn was identified as one of the top ten foods most contaminated with pesticides and chemicals in the FDA’s 2003 Total Diet Study. There were actually 33 toxic residues found in non-organic popcorn that have been linked to serious healthy issues. Wow! So I am glad that I enjoy this popcorn, since it is healthier for me!

    What did I think about the taste? I loved all the flavors! They were just so different and I felt pretty cool eating gourmet popcorn. I think my favorite is the Ginger Sesame Carmel popcorn. It tasted so rich and different. My husband loves the Madras Coconut Curry + Cashew because it is spicy and full of flavor.

    479 Popcorn is also so sought after and loved that it even made Oprah’s O List this month!

      I would try the Vietnamese Cinnamon Sugar popcorn. I’ve never had Cinnomon sugar popcorn, and Vietnamese makes it sound mysterious.

      After looking at the three collections I have to say: If you make me choose just one I am pretty sure I will die. They each have two flavors I just MUST try.

      If you force me to choose, and frankly, I will never forgive you for it, I guess I’ll go with comfort. But I’m pouting. Big time.
