When my kids are sick, not only do I feel helpless but I feel frazzled. As a mom of three while I’d love to give complete attention to my sick child I can’t and I’m alwyas frazzled trying to get medicine for them and keep my other two kids out of the “sick-zone.” With cough and cold season just around the corner, I am slowly preparing for colds and runny noses by stocking up on medicine and tissues.
Did you know that over-the-counter medicines are the cause in approximently one-third of emergency room visits for children 12 and under? Of those visits, 80% of them are due to unsupervised children taking medications on their own and 10% of emergency room visits in in this age group are due to medication errors.
PediaCare wants it to be as easy as possible for moms to safely give their kids medicine but not easy enough that they can do it on their own. New Single Dose PediaCare is a single dose of medicine packaged in a child-resistant package. The threat of overdosing is greatly reduced that way. Single Dose is available in two dosing levels, packaged according to weight and age to ensure accurate and safe dosing. It is actually the only pre-measured acetaminophen product packaged in child-resistant, squeezeable packets. Simply squeeze it into your child’s mouth! The two doses are: Ages 4-5 and Ages 6-8.
I know I have probably accidently overdosed my children by small amounts as it is so hard to accurately measure in those cups or syringes. I love that PediaCare is making it easy for moms. Now when I am running around frazzled tyrying to get medicine, I don’t have to worry about overdosing or that my kids will get into the medicine on their own. Another great feature of the Single Dose PediaCare packages are that they are perfect for traveling. I like to keep medicine in my diaper bag so we are prepared at all times and those big bottles of medicine can be pretty heavy! This is also great for when someone else is watching the kids, including dads who normally don’t medicate the kids, as I have been called a few times on exactly how much medicine and what kind of medicine to give to my kids.
PediaCare has partnered with father and pediatrician, Dr. David Hill, author of Dad to Dad: Parenting like a Pro, to develop an informational video on the single dose product. Check out some of Dr. Hill’s videos below:
