    In a world where the only good pumpkins are round pumpkins, Spookley the Square Pumpkin is often teased by others because of his square shape. Soon Spookley is befriended by Edgar, Allan and Poe, three hilarious spiders who convince him that, square or not, he has a right to be the Pick of the Patch on Halloween.

    Could a square pumpkin really be the Pick of the Patch ? Not if mean round pumpkins Big Tom and Little Tom can help it. These two bullies tease and taunt Spookley because of his square roots.

    Kindly Jack Scarecrow and his bat sidekicks, Boris and Bella, encourage Spookley to keep striving for Pick of the Patch , but he isn t sure he has what it takes until one scary day when a mighty storm threatens his home. As the storm rolls the round pumpkins across the patch towards a raging river, Spookley’s square shape helps him save the day.

    We first heard of Spookley a few years ago when I checked out the Spookley App for our iPad.  Then last year we saw Spookley on television around Halloween and I recorded it, which we watched it probably a million times last October!  Then I had to delete it for something else and Spookley was no more, well that was until we got the Spookley DVD this month!  We can now watch Spookley anytime we want, and I have no doubt my kids will want to watch this throughout the year.  It is just such a cute story that the lesson works for anytime.

    The storyline features a square pumpkin who of course feels left out around all the round pumpkins.  Well there is a competition to see who is the best pumpkin and Spookley decides to try with the help of some spider friends.    While Spookley doesn’t win the compeition, he ends up saving the day for all the pumpkins!  They realize its a good thing to be square!

    I loved how Spookley saves the day and proves that being different is not necessarily a bad thing.  While I want my kids to fit in, I also want them to be themselves and independent.  The storyline also features bullying and shows how being a bully looks and makes others feel.

    This DVD comes with a music CD with 15 songs as well as some bonus features of digital books to check out.

      My three kids and I made minecraft costumes out of boxes and print outs lol Its so funny and so cute so their so excited to trick or treat on the 31st. We spent a lot of time on these and they turned out amazing. =D Thanks

      I love everything about Halloween. Especially baking spooky treats for the family. This year I am looking forward to trick or treating with my 2 year old. Hopefully she wont be afraid like she was last year.

      well this year my boys will be dressing up as a ninja turtle (2 yr old) spiderman (3yr old) and a blue power ranger (4 yr old) should be an interesting group picture!

      I can’t believe all the cute ways to decorate Pumpkins there are on Pinterest…. I already have my Halloween decorations for this year but am going to try 1 of the more elaborate designs next year! Thanks for the chance, my Grandkids would love this!!!!

      I wish the kids of today could experience Halloween like it was when I was a child. You didn’t have to worry about poison or razor blades. You could go out in a group and trick or treat at every house for blocks and when you were a bit older mom and dad stayed home. These kids today are lucky if they get to go to a few houses of people they know because of all the crazy people out there who like to hurt others for no reason
