Disclosure: I received this car for one week to review in exchange for sharing my honest opinion.
A small SUV that fits five people, comes with intuitive technology and is fuel efficient, yes please! For one week I drove around my family of five, yes I had 2 booster seats and toddler car seat in the back, and it changed how my husband felt about Ford – in a good way! The New 2014 Ford Escape is a smooth ride with enough features to keep up with other brands but not outrageously expensive. Oh and look at the gorgeous blue it comes in!
Just some of the Ford Escape features that rock (some I had and some are ones that are optional):
- Hands-free lift gate
- Rear view camera to see what’s behind you
- SYNC with MyFord Touch – voice activated technology
- Active Park Assist – this is an optional feature that when activated it helps you look for a spot as ultrasonic sensors measure the distance to the curb between cars and signals you when identified.
- Advanced Safety Protection – slows you down when it senses you are going too fast for a particular curve, tire pressure monitoring system alerts, and lots of extra airbags
- BLIS with Cross-Traffic Alert – alerts you when something is in your blindspot
I had never heard of SYNC with MyFord Touch but what I used of it is pretty cool. Basically it is voice-activated technology that helps you keep your eyes on the road and allows you to say whatever you need. You just tap a button the steering wheel and say different prompts and what was especially nice is that the prompts are listed for you so you know exactly what to say. You could even go as far as having incoming texts read to you with audible text messaging! Since I only had this car for one week there are so many features I am sure I missed or just scratched the surface of!
Roomy backseat:
Cup holder armrest in the back:
An outlet!
Ceiling:
Buttons on steering wheel for easy access to things:
Basic heating/cooling, but you can also navigate on the touch screen:
Nice touchscreen size:
Overall, I really liked the 2014 Ford Escape. At $22,700 starting price I think it is an affordable SUV for families of four, I think five might be a little tight all the time but occasionally is definitely doable. I loved the size of the truck and how the seats fold down very easy with the 60/40 split (one seat is a little bigger than the other and you can fold down one or the other.
