Did you know that there was a deaf offensive player that played in this past Super Bowl game? Derrick Coleman, Seattle Seahawks’ starting fullback, is the first NFL deaf offensive player, and as they say behind every great man is a great woman. In Derrick’s case his great woman started with his mom, May Hamlin. It is definitely an inspiring story to hear how May raised her son who had dreams of playing football and how he got to where he is today. Derrick and May hope to inspire other people, especially children, to TRUST THE POWER WITHIN to achieve their dreams just like Derrick Coleman trusted the power and never let his adversity stand in his way. He not only made it to play in the NFL but also to play in the Super Bowl.
I got the chance to interview May Hamlin and hear how she supported Derrick, some advice for a parent with a child with a disability and how she helped Derrick to not give up, and what she thought when he first said he wanted to play football. It is a quick interview but inspiring to hear from a parent how she felt and how she make Derrick’s hearing disability come second to his dreams of playing football.
Derrick Coleman has partnered with Durracell to feature their new Duracell Quantum , the world’s longest lasting battery. It is a battery that is combined with a Hi-Density Core for unbeatable long-lasting power as well as PowerCheck to instantly check your battery’s power level. It is also guaranteed to last 10 years in storage! Below is a Durracell’s #TrustYourPower video (13.2 million views in just three weeks) featuring Derrick on his way to the Super Bowl.
VISIT: You can learn more about Duracell Quantum batteries on the Duracell website!
WIN IT: (1) US winner will receive a Duracell Quantum battery prize pack ($40 value)
(Sorry I don’t have an exact picture of what the prize pack will include)
