One of my favorite places in Chicagoland has become Medieval Times, and I love it because it makes my kids smile. We have been there a few times with them now and it really is a great price for what you get (read my review on the new show).
We love Medieval Times as a family, from walking around before the show and enjoying the inside of the castle to the show and meal, everything is great. It is recommended to arrive 75 minutes early but we usually get there about 45 minutes early and don’t have a problem.
Once the show starts, your server comes and immediately starts bringing your drinks and food. You start off with soup and garlic bread, then a huge piece of chicken, barbecued spare rib, baked potato and you end with a dessert. Oh and did I mention you don’t get any silverware!
Since seeing is probably better than me describing, here are pictures from our Medieval Times experience:
My daughter loves watching the horses for the show:
The lobby is full of shops, displays and fun stuff to look at:
The bad guy:
I didn’t get more action pictures because we had this netting come down and while it was fine to see thru, it was hard to get pictures thru:
This time we did experience the Dungeon as well, which we have never done before. Now it does cost $2 extra per person and it is probably not appropriate for young kids. We took my kids (2-7 years old in there) and they walked through not really understanding anything luckily. The Dungeon is full of facts posters, artifacts, and torture devices. It was pretty neat to read about all of them in there but I did rush through since I didn’t want to explain too much to my kids!
I didn’t get any pictures of inside the Dungeon as we went thru so fast:
Our section was the Green Knight, each section having a knight they cheer for. Our knight ending up winning which was extra exciting, especially for my kids as our knight looked like he might not win at first. The whole show though was packed with action from sword fighting to knight challenges to a bird soaring around the arena. The show can be pricey for a family, but there are always coupons or specials out there if you look for them! When you think about it that you get dinner and a show, it is reasonable. If you can’t go just because, it does make for an extra special birthday dinner!
BUY IT: You can purchase tickets for Medieval Times for $59.95 for an adult and $35.95 for children 12 and under. Don’t forget to check for coupons though!
WIN IT: (1) US winner will receive 6 tickets to the Schaumburg, IL Medival Times Castle
