    Going Hi-Tech With the Honeywell Wi-Fi Thermostat {Review}

    It seems like there is an app for everything nowadays and yes there is even an app to control your thermostat.  The Honeywell Wi-Fi Thermostat is a smart thermostat that allows user to control it from their phones or computer.  Now I used to think “Why would I ever need to be able to control my thermostat from my phone or computer?”  Well I have found so many uses for it!  On vacation and need to lower or raise your thermostat, done!  For example, in Chicago we have crazy weather and sometimes we go away and I turn off our heat/air but when we are returning I don’t want to enter a frozen/sweltering hot house.  The Honeywell Wi-Fi Thermostat can save the day!

    How hard is installing the Honeywell Wi-Fi Thermostat?  Honestly my husband had it installed and registered online within an hour and he is not super handy (so yes its pretty self-explanatory to install.)  The only issue we had was the thermostat is smaller than the one we had so my husband will need to patch and re-paint the wall, not a big deal.  Once installed, setting up an account online and then downloading the app for our phones was super easy.

    Need help installing?  The directions do have pictures and are thorough but there are videos on the Honeywell website to watch for help as well.  Oh and not every home’s furnace is compatible with the Honeywell Wi-Fi Thermostat, so you should check their website for compatibility.

    Don’t mind the wall, it wasn’t patched yet since this thermostat is smaller than our previous one:

    My favorite features:

    • That you can change the color of the interface (“Hello, Purple!”)
    • Easy to schedule times and temperatures
    • Auto Alerts of extreme temperatures and filter change reminders.
    • Indoor humidity sensor
    • Locking touchscreen – so you don’t have to worry about your kids (or any guests) messing with the thermostat.
    • Smart Response – The thermostat will learn your heating and cooling cycle times to deliver just the right temperature at the right times.
    • Advanced Fan controls to circulate air and run fan when you want it.

    Overall, I recommend the Honeywell Wi-Fi Thermostat for any consumer looking to save money on your bills and easily change and schedule your thermostat.  I remember trying to schedule temperatures on the old thermostats and it being impossible, I could schedule them on this one practically with my eyes closed!  I will say my favorite feature is probably that you can change the color, so it will match any room decor.  Being touchscreen helps as well so you can just tap away rather than fiddling with buttons.  I said earlier that you will save money in the long run with this because scheduling temperatures does help.  Once we got our last programmable thermostat installed I saw a significant drop in costs, like $30 off  our bill!  For us now I don’t schedule too much during the day since we are home most of the day, but at night I do have the temperature drop since we are sleeping anyways and then warm up as we are waking up.

      My favorite feature is the easy schedule. You can let it know what temperature to switch to at certain times of the day. I also like that you can use your smartphone to control the thermostat.

      i love you can adjust it with your phone.i can leave the heat or air up or down then hour before i leave work i can turn it to warm up or cool the house down before i get there.and save energy and money on the light bill.

      The feature I like best is the fact that it is programmable from anywhere. This would be nice in the winter months. I could set it from work to put the heat up so that it is nice and warm for when i get home.

      My favorite features is the big display! Being partially blind, I’ve always had trouble setting the thermostat. Mostly, I just guess because the numbers are too small to read. This would make things so much easier for me to see! 🙂

      I like this feature the most; Locking touchscreen – so you don’t have to worry about your kids (or any guests) messing with the thermostat. I have this one son that likes to crank the thermostat when he comes to visit.

      I like that it registers humidity. When you live in Florida there is high humidity which makes it steamy. I would love to be able to detect the amount of humidity in my home!
