When my youngest sister was little she loved Littlest Pet Shop and had a whole village in her room of them. I had no clue back then that Littlest Pet Shop would come back later on or I might have asked her to save all her toys from them! Yes Littlest Pet Shop is back and not only in toy form but also as a television show and DVDs. I got the chance to check out some of the newest Littlest Pet Shop sets and DVD with my daughter and her friends and everyone had a blast.
So what makes the New Littlest Pet Shop sets different is that they empower fans to “Be who they wanna be!” where kids can play and design their own Pet Shop world. Kids can collect the different sets and customize the inside, mix it up and even stack them horizontally or vertically. There is even Deco Bits which are unique, small accessories that snap into the walls for a little added glamour, as well as stickers and decorative pieces.
So for the party we decided to have an impromptu gathering on our porch. We had such nice weather her in Chicago that I hated to make the kids come inside, especially since the nice weather was only for a limited time. We had kids ages 3 to 7 playing with the sets and they all loved it. I wasn’t sure if the 7 year old would think it was too babyish since the younger girls were playing with it, but nope she jumped in too.
So before the party started, I assembled the two sets and put all the pets and accessories in plastic containers. I figured it would be a lot easier to assemble without kids all over me. It took me maybe 10 minutes to assemble each set, pretty easy to snap everything together with no tools required. Once assembled I put everything on the front porch and waited until the kids noticed. My 3 year old knew exactly who it was because we had seen the tv show and she was super excited. I honestly couldn’t believe the focus all the girls had with these sets. There was no fighting either as there was so many pieces everyone had something to do.
I think their favorite part was the Deco Bits and all the little pet pieces. Each girl immediately had a favorite and they were playing so nicely talking to each other in pet voices.
I love how the sets are so customizable from the colors of the wall panels to the Deco Bits to the backgrounds and each which way the front opens. Kids can really “Be who they wanna be!” Usually toy sets allow for some customization but these sets really go the extra step with it. My daughter has been rearranging things and playing with the sets daily since the party when I first introduced them. I have a feeling it will be a very Little Pet Shop Christmas for her. The younger girls liked the pets the best and playing around with them, while the older girls liked to decorate and style the houses. They really are toys too for a wide age range as I found out.
To end the night a few of the girls stayed to watch the Littlest Pet Shop DVD we got, some of them had never seen the television before on Discovery Family Channel.
