With my first son, I was all about the name brand formula and diapers. Then I came to my senses and when I didn’t have a coupon one time, I decided to purchase store brand formula. And you know what, he was fine! I told my pediatrician who said it was just fine as long as he likes it, grows, and doesn’t have a bad reaction to it. So after 5 months of breastfeeding and then a few months of Similac, we made the switch to store brand and haven’t gone back.
Then when I had my second child, I breastfed and then went with Comforts for Baby from Food 4 Less, but you can get it at many other locations and any Kroger stores. Comforts for Baby formula is very comparable to Enfamil and Similac and you can do what I did and just compare the brands canisters in the store.
Comforts Baby Formula contains:
• Contain lactose and nutrients found naturally in breast milk to help develop the immune system
• Fortified with iron and contains all the essential vitamins, minerals, and nutrients needed for your baby’s first year of development.
• Contains DHA and ARA, which is associated with an infants mental and visual development.
• Is actually manufactured to FDA standards in an infant-formula facility in the United States.
Right now on the Comforts for Baby website there is a contest to name their loveable, little character, which is a Firefly. After looking long and hard at the container, I decided to name it “Snuggles!” If you enter their contest you will be qualified to win a $10,000 scholarship! You can enter online at the Comforts For Baby website and the winner will be selected on September 21, 2009.

We used Parent's Choice with our twin girls. I could not breast feed and had no other choice. We used the samples from the hospital, but soon found that we were going through formula faster than we could buy it. We took a look at the store brand labels and compared them to the name brand. They were exactly the same. A lot of people don't know that store brand formulas are required to meet the exact same nutrition guidelines set by the FDA as the name brand formulas. Store brand formulas are an excellent way to save money and NOT sacrifice your baby's nutrition!
