Last week I celebrated my birthday and one present I got that I was not excited about was another gray hair. It’s funny how I feel like it was yesterday that I had one gray hair staring at me from the mirror and after a quick pluck I was done. For awhile I just had that one that every now and then I’d have to pluck but then the one turned into two and two turned into four and so forth. Where did all the gray hairs come from? Why now? Well I blame my kids but regardless they were there and something needed to be done.
Since I have gotten all those pesky grays popping up all over, I have done a few things to cover them up. I usually just do an all over hair color but I haven’t had time lately to do that and so I started searching for something both quick and effective. The other problem I seemed to have is I would usually notice those grays while I was out and then what was I to do? I needed something that I could carry around with me.
Madison Reed is a company that wants people to look and feel their best inside and out. Their mission is to make personal care more personal in the hair color industry. They have a Root Touch Up powder that comes in powder form in a compact for easy and quick application. Users can easily brush on the powder that matches their needs (seven colors to choose from) and it will last through rain, sweat and sleep. It lasts until the next shampoo and each compact is good for about 60 uses.
I looked up Madison Reed and found it is sold at local Sephora stores as well as Madison-Reed.com. The nearby Sephora stores by me are located in JCPenny and they don’t carry hair products and the actual Sephora store near me didn’t have the color I needed in stock. Luckily Root Touch Up is carried online at Madison-Reed for just $29.95 and is available in all seven colors.
So I definitely recommend calling ahead to see if your Sephora has it before heading out otherwise you can at least find it online. The benefit though of buying it at Sephora though is you can get a free consultation from a Madison Reed color crew specialist to match the appropriate Root Touch Up powder shade to your hair.
I absolutely love how easily Madison Reed Root Touch Up works. You just brush it on dry hair just like you’d brush on foundation powder to your face. No waiting around for hair dye or running to a salon.
Did you know that American women put an average of 168 chemicals on their bodies each day (Environmental Working Group, 2015)? Why should we have to continuously dye our hair to cover up the grays when something so simple as a powder can do the job but without harsh chemicals like titanium dioxide, sulfates, added parabens and gluten? Madison Reed hair care products are also free of ammonia, PPD, and resorcinol while providing superior condition and shine.
So how did it work for me?
I spent about three minutes and was able to cover up all my grays before we went out to celebrate for my birthday. I had been running around all day and when I finally sat down to get ready is when I noticed all the grays! Madison Reed Root Touch Up saved my night and made me feel better about my appearance and about getting older! It wasn’t noticeable to anyone that it was there and it blended in nicely with my hair. It actually made my hair not feel so greasy either as it seemed to absorb it when it I brushed it on. My roots were the color they should be, my grays were covered and my hair had a nice light fragrance to it – I’d say Root Touch Up was a hit with me. I really do like it and would recommend it to any busy woman who doesn’t want to be caught out with grays. The compact is super convenient and small enough that it fits nicely in a purse or makeup bag.
