Safari Tales – Kuato Studios
Made for ages 6 to 8 years old
Finding an app that engages all three of my kids is not something easily found. Sure there are tons of games available that they love but as a mom I of course look for apps that seem like a game but are actually packed with educational aspects. Well Safari Tales is an app that was designed for ages 6 to 8 years old with literacy skills in mind and all three of my kids love it!
Safari Tales at first glance may seem like another animal game app, but then you see all that it can do and its pretty awesome.
Features:
- Create a story that your child gets to personalize within their reading level and then even read it together as parents can get emailed when a new story is created.
- Learn about various baby animals – there are 1,000s of facts about safari animals
- Ask animals questions and they answer
- Explore caves, forests, rivers and an ant hill
- Explore different animal territories as well such as Mud Wallows, Sunset Savannah and Catapult Canyon.
- Learn Swahili words – this is my boys favorite
- Draw and be creative decorating animals
- Follow directions – you have sort of a quest to follow and have to follow footprints
I played with this app for probably about 20 minutes and I feel like I didn’t even scratch the surface. I love how it has a little of everything inside – creativity through drawing, learning through questions, exploring and more. My kids had no problem navigating the app and figured it all out on their own. Even my 4 year old was able to play it with limited assistance. They even told me animal facts after they were done! Usually when I give them ‘educational’ apps they whine and ask to play something different, but with Safari Tales that was not the case. The app really sparked something in them and they asked for more tablet time just to play it.
