Written with her mother Chrys Howard and featuring stories and wisdom from husband Willie, STRONG and KIND cuts through the contemporary cacophony of parenting manuals to rediscover, unfold, and embrace the enduring wisdom that has guided the best parents for centuries.About Korie Robertson:Korie Robertson, wife of Duck Commander® CEO Willie Robertson and star of A&E’s beloved series Duck Dynasty, is a mother of five a New York Times bestselling author of several books, including The Duck Commander Family: How Faith, Family, and Ducks built a Dynasty, written with Willie; Faith Commander: Living Five Values from the Parables with Jesus, written with her mother Chrys Howard; and The Women of Duck Commander: Surprising Insights from the Women Behind the Beards about What Makes this Family Work, written with all of the Robertson wives. Here is a note from Korie:
I admit I was intrigued by this book because it is written by Korie Robertson who is the wife of CEO Willie Robertson from Duck Dynasty. My husband and I love that show and while we are not very religious people, I do appreciate her words in the book as her being a mother. To be a mother is hard enough and she is a mom of five plush she is in the spotlight, so its extra challenging I would assume for her.
In Strong and Kind, the book is broken down into three part: Good Character, Character Traits and Parent Kinds of Characters. I like that it is easily picked up and a few pages can be read at a time. As a mom of three I definitely need all the help I can get and am always interested in ideas. She has great advice and she shares so many of her own experiences. From the television show Duck Dynasty it is easy to get a feel for how they interact and are as a family but it is nice to hear from Korie’s own mouth how she felt and dealt with things. My kids are still young and as their mother I want them to grow up to be strong and kind individuals, I guess I never thought I should start guiding them on those paths. Kids learn from examples and with the world as crazy as it can be I want to be the one setting the examples and nurturing them. I haven’t finished the book yet but I have read a lot, even skipping around throughout the book, and it is a good read. There are some religious undertowns in it as church and God are very important to the Robertsons (as seen in the show) but its not pushy nor is it said their way or the highway. There are also many great pictures in the book of Korie and her family.

I LOVE this show and have seen almost all of the episodes. Once I sit down and watch one episode, then another, then another before I know it two hours have gone by. I love the family values of this show and the prayer at dinner time as a family. We need to get back to these kinds of shows and less of the endless murder shows that are on television nightly.
