Penguin Kids has launched the Penguin Young Readers 12 Days of Picture Books campaign. Each day they are highlighting select picture books from the past year and running different giveaways each day from the Penguin Kids Facebook page.
Today’s book is: The Book with No Pictures
A #1 New York Times bestseller, this innovative and wildly funny read-aloud by award-winning humorist/actor B.J. Novak will turn any reader into a comedian.
You might think a book with no pictures seems boring and serious. Except . . . here’s how books work. Everything written on the page has to be said by the person reading it aloud. Even if the words say . . .BLORK. Or BLUURF.
Even if the words are a preposterous song about eating ants for breakfast, or just a list of astonishingly goofy sounds like BLAGGITY BLAGGITY and GLIBBITY GLOBBITY.
Cleverly irreverent and irresistibly silly, The Book with No Pictures is one that kids will beg to hear again and again. (And parents will be happy to oblige.)
So I have heard a lot of hype about this book and I figured it was time to check it out. My neighbor’s kids (ages 6 and 9) actually decorated a pumpkin for school all about this book and it was pretty adorable. This book is full of words either just big blurbs of words in fun fonts just words and some pages have a sentence or two. Very simple to read. My kids now love this book, even though there are no pictures to look at like they are used to. I would recommend this book to anyone looking a silly and different book for their kids. It would be perfect too for kids who are reading on their own but not quite ready for the challenge of big books. I dare you too to read this book and not laugh and smile.
Check out The Book with No Pictures or wherever books are sold.
