I received product/compensation in exchange for sharing my honest opinion.
I can remember it clearly as if it was yesterday. It was two years ago just after school started and my oldest was sitting at our kitchen table. He kept scratching his head and I had him go upstairs so I could help him wash it since he had been battling itchy dandruff. Then I noticed things moving around and I literally couldn’t stop starring. That was my first experience with lice but somehow I knew that is what it was. Then, of course, my other two kids got it.
I would not wish lice on anyone. It was a long four weeks and every time I thought it was gone, I’d see another egg. I really believe if I had been prepared in the beginning then I would have had a less stressful experience. I was also clueless about lice removal and learning as I went – this is definitely a casit’shen its best to know about before you experience it.
Well, back-to-school season is not just a time for school supplies or making school lunches, but also a time for germs to be shared. I like to think of head lice as a germ.
One way to be prepared for head lice is to keep a Nix Ultra® Lice Removal Kit on hand. Believe me the last thing you want to have to do is run to the store frantically and hope they have it in stock. In my case, they did not and I had to go to a second store the next day! I was busy too ripping apart any fabric or plush from my house and bagging it to kill lice eggs until I could wash it. Believe me when I say too that you don’t have time to wait for Nix to come from Amazon!
The Nix Ultra® Lice Removal Kit is an easy to use over-the-counter kit that safely kills both traditional and super lice, as well as their eggs (nits), and can be found at drug, food and mass merchandisers across the country. It contains pesticide-free Nix Ultra® solution for treating hair and scalp; the Nix® Lice Removal Comb for removing nits and lice; and Nix® Lice Control Spray for household items that cannot be laundered or dry cleaned.
The spray was amazing for me to use on our mattress, couches and rugs. I went through three bottles because I was overly worried.
Are you prepared for lice?
You are not alone! Lice is one of those things you assume won’t happen to your family. It doesn’t happen to “clean” families, right? Wrong! Lice can happen to anyone – Lice are attracted to blood, not to dirty hair. Personal hygiene or cleanliness in the home has nothing to do with getting head lice.
An estimated 6 to 12 million infestations of lice occur each year in the United States alone.
Nix® recently surveyed 500 parents to find out how prepared they are for dealing with a head lice outbreak. The answer? Not very! The majority of parents admitted they were only somewhat prepared (31 percent) or not ready at all (25 percent) to treat head lice. Additionally, the majority of parents (69 percent) have heightened concerns about super lice, a type of head lice that have genetically mutated to become resistant to the active ingredients in some traditional lice treatment products.
Track Lice in your area
To help parents prepare to tackle head lice, The Nix® Lice Tracker is an online tool that tracks lice outbreaks and alerts parents so they can be prepared. Parents and school nurses can utilize the real-time map to track and report outbreaks.
