When buying beds, most of us think about comfort above all. It makes sense. The primary purpose of a bed is its sleeping capabilities. You want a mattress which lulls you to sleep. The rest are just afterthoughts at best, right?
Not necessarily! The appearance of your bed deserves more attention than you’ve been giving it. It is, after all, the main feature of your bedroom. And, a central feature should be something to shout about. Forget plain bedding and a frame which suits its purpose. You should go all out to ensure your bed impresses during the day, as well as at night. As with any main focus in a room, this is a cause worth putting money into. And, to help you achieve the goal, we’ve compiled a list of tips about just that.
A feature frame
As mentioned above, many people see their bed frame as nothing more than a convenience. The mattress is the main event, right? No. At least, not during the day. Guests aren’t going to see how fantastic your mattress is when they walk past your bedroom. But, they will see the frame you’ve chosen. And, while there’s nothing wrong with a practical option, it doesn’t exactly achieve the WOW factor.
Instead, look at collections from designers like Tommy Bahama. While these ranges are full of relaxing furniture to suit your nighttime needs, they also offer canvas beds, and all manner of amazing frames. Something like this is sure to impress. Or, you could opt for an ironwork frame with a delicate touch. While subtle, this is sure to look amazing. In short, shop for your bedframe the way you would shop for a sofa. It’s about more than just convenience!
Duvet covers and throws
And, of course, the work doesn’t end there. While a beautiful bed frame can take you far, a stunning duvet cover could well take you further. In fact, get this right, and people may overlook the bed frame altogether. The good news is, there are many fantastic duvet covers on the market, and most are affordable, too. Take a look for designs which compliment your bedroom, or match your curtains.
Think, too, about throws. While not essential, a high-quality throw on the end of your bed could add a real level of interest. Again, think about the color scheme and decor through the rest of the room. Then, use your throw to continue this onto your bed.
Cushions
We’ve all seen move-set beds with their myriad of different sized cushions. It would take a whole morning just to get the things straight. Lucky for you, you don’t have to go quite this far in your bedroom. But, that doesn’t mean you should rule out cushions altogether. Placing a well-selected few on a made bed can bring the room together. Match these with that throw we were talking about, and you’ll have a designer bed to die for. You just need to remember to put them on each morning!
