I received product/compensation in exchange for sharing my honest opinion.
Last week I noticed the coat my daughter was wearing was getting short on her. It is like she sprouted overnight because I swear it fit her the week before.
Luckily I had stocked up on the next sizes for my kids because I knew it was only a manner of time before coats were outgrown. There are so many people in need of a warm coat who don’t have one coat let alone the next size up.
One Warm Coat is a national organization that collects more than 5 million coats and supports 3,500 coat drives each year. The organization began in 1992 with its first coat drive on a Thanksgiving weekend in San Francisco. Now the organization is dedicated to providing a warm coat to anyone in need, free of charge across North America.
Each year One Warm Coat:
- Creates opportunities for nearly 600,000 individuals to receive a warm coat
- Touches the lives of hundreds of thousands of people
- Supports more than 3,500 coat drive organizers by providing free instructions, materials, tools and resources
- Hosts and maintains a searchable database of coat drive events across North America
- Assists 1,000+ community agencies in receiving the coats they need
- Works with more than 1,000 companies and brands to engage employees and customers to give the gift of warmth
One Warm Coat has the goal of collecting 1 million coats this season and they would love your help. Now families can help others and learn the importance of giving back.
How you can host a One Warm Coat drive:
Organizers receive help from start to finish planning, promoting and implementing the coat drive. Anyone can start a coat drive whether you are an individual, school, community group, church group or business.
Once the coat drive is registered, One Warm Coat will send Ambassadors all of the materials they need to host a coat drive, including a banner, box labels, stickers and more.
Once coats are collected, One Warm Coat will then distribute the coats within their community to any person in need, without charge, discrimination or obligation through the organization’s network of non-profit partners.
Why you should host a coat drive:
- Parents, teachers and students looking to make a positive impact on their community through a service project
- People seeking to add a philanthropic component to an upcoming family gathering or party
- Community members finding ways to give back during the winter months
- Professionals who would like to engage their colleagues in a good cause
- People who may be moving or looking for ways to recycle
- Corporations and Brands who want to make a difference in the communities where their employees and customers work and live

This is a really neat project to give to. There’s actually a drop off location not too far from us. I’ll have to look and see if we have any extra coats.
