When I was in high school my best friend and I were constantly competing, whether it was over a boy, clothes, car, other friends, or any other teen drama. Don’t get me wrong we were the best of friends, but we did always try to outdo each other, I mean we were immature high school students. At the end of the day, we always made up and shared but there were times that really tested our relationship. Things got more complicated and hard after we graduated high school and went our separate ways, but we still stay in touch and can pick up where we left off.
Well starting tonight there is a new television drama called “The Whole Truth.” Kathryn and Jimmy were good friends in college but have taken different path as heads of the prosecution and defense teams. They are competitive in the courtroom, but they have a great deal of respect for one another and they maintain a friendly relationship outside the courtroom. So they are old friends but rivals at work. I think it is great that they can stay friends, because I can only imagine how hard of a relationship that is to maintain. Luckily my best friend and I are now past our competitiveness and now we just have to deal with our own lives and try to find time to get together.
About the show:
Kathryn Peale, the product of a New England background and a sheriff father, is the Deputy Bureau Chief in the New York State District Attorney’s office. Jimmy Brogan, born and raised in Hell’s Kitchen and a friend of Kathryn’s since their days at Yale Law School, is one of New York’s rising criminal attorney stars. Buoyed by their respective teams, these evenly matched lawyers — each with a strong streak of competitiveness, a fervent belief in their clients and an equally intense passion for the law — go about creating two different stories from the same set of facts. As this up-close, behind-the-scenes look at the legal process mirrors the excitement of a great championship match, it becomes evident that truth has nothing to do with innocence or guilt — at the end of every trial, the only thing that matters is what the jury believes.
