The modern world is changing in almost every sense, and it continues to do so by the day. Attitudes are altering, desires are changing, abilities are changing, you name it, it isn’t the same as what it was. What is behind the new wave of differences? Technology has certainly played a huge part. In reality, that is an incredibly wide and varied definition because it has had an impact on almost every aspect of life, but one of the most prominent is the way people now consume media.
On the TV, on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, both men and women are showed what a ‘perfect’ body looks like; though there is no official definition of beauty because it is subjective, there appears to be an ‘optimum’ body image that everyone feels they need to keep up with. This isn’t exclusive to women, men also have to deal with this issue, but the rise in body shaming has brought a rise in the desire for plastic surgery.
Many of the people on social media with big followings, in the magazines and on the TV have had plastic surgery and as a result, it has been normalized. The stigma surrounding it has disappeared, no longer are people ashamed to want it, they believe it is needed. The world desires people who look good, that is just a very sad fact that is a result of the new wave of technology. Because people are always connected to media in some form, they cannot escape it.
As mentioned above, this is something men do have to deal with and they do often find themselves considering plastic surgery, but women often feel more pressured into it because outer beauty is perceived to be more important to them. The desire for plastic surgery has become far more common in recent years, but it doesn’t mean it is any healthier from a physical or psychological point of view.
There are a number of different types of plastic surgery, and they can often be done for different reasons. For example, people can want to look thinner, younger or generally ‘better’. The most common type of surgery is liposuction; it helps get people’s bodies in the right shape without the effort, frustration, and need for motivation with diets and exercise. ‘Boob jobs’ carried out by a professional who is part of a Connecticut plastic surgery practice (or similar practices elsewhere) are also common. These surgeries involve enhancing the size or shape of breasts through implants or fat transfer. The goal is to achieve a desired aesthetic appearance, whether by increasing volume, correcting asymmetry, or restoring breast fullness lost due to factors like aging or pregnancy. Up next on the list of most common plastic surgeries is Botox. It freezes nerves in the skin, which is believed to make people look younger (because it stops the development of wrinkles). This treatment can also be carried out for medical reasons because it reduces pain in stiff muscles.
The technology of the surgery from Breslow MD has improved over the years with the aforementioned general growth. Machinery has improved because plastic surgery financing has. With Botox, you get an injection under local anesthetic, but liposuction, breast implants, and others require general anesthetic and operation. Such is the modern world, too, computers and machinery are also helping with the surgery, using specialist tools. The reliance on technology will only grow in the future, too.
