Having a baby is exciting, but once kids come, you will be unable to focus on anything else other than your little bundle of joy. Before you delve into this major yet fulfilling adventure, here are a few things you need to tick off your bucket list.
1. Go for a trip together
Spend your time exploring cities, towns, and state close to you and find a favorite new spot you can escape to when you need a break from all the baby drama. If you have trouble brainstorming ideas, use a game like writing all the cities in pieces of paper, putting the papers in a jar, and picking one randomly.
2. Have a baby shower
Things are about to get busy, but before they do, celebrate with your friends and spend quality time together. Your shower can involve a few friends and family members, or have everyone you know on-board if that’s what you prefer. To give you the place of honor you deserve, have custom made baby shower shirts for mom and dad. You can have baby shower shirts for the whole party with personalized names and numbers, as a sign you are one team. Keep things interesting by having each friend print something cute about you, your new responsibilities, or an encouraging message on the shirt.
3. Pamper yourself
Book a prenatal massage and be pampered for a change. A spa day helps you relax, relieves stress, and helps with the back pain. Go for a pedicure and have someone work on your puffy legs to help you relax and feel better. A lazy morning with Netflix, cuddling, and hot chocolate is also great, especially if you are on bed rest and can’t move around as much. You can also have a beautician come and pamper you from home.
4. Invest in your wardrobe
Now that you are about to say goodbye to your maternity clothes, you need to plan for nursing. Don’t throw away all your maternity clothes, though. They will come in handy for the first few months after birth. You should, however, invest in comfortable shoes, especially if you plan to start taking walks immediately after birth. Also, buy a few clothes that are nursing friendly, but ones that will make you feel good about yourself. Accessories that will spice up your maternity clothes are also a must-have, so throw in a few of those as well.
5. Stock up on supplies
This is not necessarily the fun kind of shopping, but it’s wise. You have heard this a million times, but we must emphasize it. Babies need a lot of supplies, and it’s wise to stock up early, especially when prices are low. Buy diapers, onesies, bottles, formula, and everything else your little munchkin will need.
The first few months after getting a baby are hectic. You should expect sleepless nights, tons of crying, and numerous diaper changes. Have a little fun before to help you relax and gear up for the times ahead.
