My husband has eaten poutine for years and to me it honestly sounded weird. If you don’t know what poutine is don’t worry I didn’t either.
Poutine is a dish that includes french fries and cheese curds topped with a brown gravy. It originated in Canada and when we visited Canada last year, poutine was seriously at every restaurant. Even the McDonalds there had poutine fries! So needless to say I got hooked but unfortunately there are not many places here in IL that make a good poutine.
I promise it is worth trying out!
So here is my re-creation for poutine fries at home…
Ingredients:
- 1 jar of brown gravy
- 1 package of cheese curds (I found in the cheese section of grocery store also check the deli area)
- 1 package french fries
Directions:
- Cook fries according to directions on package on a baking sheet.
- When they are done, pour gravy and cheese curds all over.
- Cook about 10 more minutes or until cheese curds melt.
