At different times in your life, you’re going to take a look at your home and feel like you want to be able to change it. It’s inevitable. It’s one of those things that just tends to happen. Styles change, your taste will change, needs will change, and you will outgrow your home and décor over time. But this doesn’t mean that you have to sit with it or feel as if you need to make changes all the time. Instead, you can just look to either make small changes as time goes on, or you can look to do a big, fun transformation when the moment strikes. If you feel like you’ve got the itch right now and you’d love to be able to make changes to your home, why not think about transforming your home for fall?
When it comes to shaking things up just in time for a new season, you often feel really motivated to do it because there is already change in the air. And maybe your favorite season is coming up (like fall) and you want to be able to get some changes in place in line with it? You wouldn’t be the only one. If this is something you would enjoy doing right now, here’s some ideas to help you transform your home in time for fall.
1. Get Organized
First off, you’re going to want to make sure that you just get organized. This seems like one of those big, boring, overbearing jobs – and it is. But at the same time, you have to get this done first before you work on anything else, because it can really make such a difference. Then, once you’ve done this you can move onto some of the more exciting ideas. But to begin with, organizing your home can make such a difference and it can even make it feel like a great place to live in.
2. Do A Big Clean
As a step on from that, you might want to do a bit of a big clean too. You know that doing a big spring clean is important, well doing the same ahead of fall can be a good idea too. Plus, now that everything is all newly organized, it always feels nice to make sure that everything is all cleaned. Plus, it can be fun for you to do a deep clean too. And we all know that our homes feel so much better after too.
3. Put Stuff Into Storage
While you’re working on the two above points, you may find that you’ve got a lot of excess stuff that you now need to do something with. If you have bits that you want to keep, you might want to consider putting them into storage if you know that you just don’t have the space. With anything else, figure out if there are things that you can donate or maybe you need to hire a skip so that you can throw out any old, broken or damaged things you can no longer use.
4. Change Room Functions
Next, you might want to consider moving some of your rooms around. If you have a spare room you don’t use or a garage that could be put to better use, why not turn them into extra living spaces?
5. Renovate The Kitchen
When it comes to actually decorating some of the rooms or drastically changing the décor (which you might be inclined to do in one or two rooms), why not think about the kitchen. It’s one of those rooms that you spend a lot of time in so it’s a great room to actually allocate some time and budget too. And a lot of us have goals of creating a stunning kitchen. So why not think about what you can do to bring in a new kitchen design or at least give your current kitchen a bit of a face lift.
6. Change Your Living Area Decor
Then, you might want to move onto the living space. Do you like the idea of creating a stunning living space? If you know that yours is looking a little old and tired, it could be a nice idea for you to think about shaking things up with some chic design ideas. The good news is that this doesn’t have to take a lot of time either. It can be one of those rooms that a change of color and accessories can make such a difference. So have fun with it here, as this is a space you use a lot.
7. Shake Up Your Bedroom
And what about the bedroom? Maybe you could change the décor here so that it feels a little more modern? Again, like the living space, you might just need to change the color scheme or the accessories and it could make such a difference.
8. Redo The Bathrooms
When it comes to your bathrooms, you might want to approach this in the same way as the kitchen. Maybe this could be a space that you redo completely? If you want a project to take on, why not think about completely redoing some of the restrooms in your home?
9. Clean Up The Outside
Then, head outside too. Consider what you can do to make things look so much better out here. Having a big fall tidy up, cleaning things up and putting furniture into storage ahead of winter could be so fun.
10. Replace Your Windows
While you’re working on the outside, you might then also want to think about your windows. It’s always a good idea to be sure that they’re in good working condition. A great way of doing this is replacing the windows with someone like Renewal by Andersen windows, so that you know they are in good condition. That way, you’ll be ready for the cooler winter months – and they just look a lot better on the outside of your home too.
11. Work On The Driveway
If your driveway isn’t quite looking as great as it could be, you might want to think about redoing it. This could be one of the bigger projects that you even look to take on through the winter months.
12. Dress Up For Fall
Then from here, you can definitely think about having fun with things. Maybe you like the idea of dressing up ahead of fall. There’s nothing more fun than bringing in cozy fall décor. And you can totally prepare for this early. Think about what you want to do to dress up your home. Whether that’s mums or pumpkins, plaid or lots of gorgeous fall colors. Make sure that you feel cozy and in love with the rooms in your home.
13. Focus On A Specific Function
Lastly, you might then want to think about a specific function that you can do in your home for fall. Do you love to entertain but you never feel like you have the space? Maybe this is something that you want to dedicate your time to making happen? It can be easy to create the space when you have an intention. It can be the same for a work space or working out area too.
Final Thoughts
You may not really know where to start with all of this, and that’s okay. It can be a hard one for you to start – especially when you have lots of different things for summer still going on. But when you start to look at the list, you can see that actually, it’s more manageable than you first think.
Just slowly start to work your way through the ideas that speak to you the most. There’s always going to be things that you can do to get ready for fall and transform your home. And you’ll feel so much better when you’re able to do that.
