So today (as my husband tells me) is the first day of NFL football this season. Now I am not a football watcher, but I when I heard about this event hosted by Sony I was curious. To celebrate the power of its low light photography technology, Sony is introducing Twilight Football.
Twilight Football will kick off on September 22, 2009 and will take place in 7 stunning world locations including: Italy, France, the UK, Spain, Argentina, Australia, and South Africa. So yes this football game is really a soccer game. Now why is Sony doing this? Well they are really excited about their new Exmor R CMOS Sensor technology will capture the incredible detail and fast-moving action in low light filming conditions. If you have ever tried to take a picture in a low light situation, then you know it is one of the toughest challenges in digital camera photography.
Now I don’t understand all the technical details of Sony’s technology, but I am excited about a new technology that will help with night and low light pictures. There is nothing worse than taking pictures and having them be black because there wasn’t enough light and a flash doesn’t always cut it.
You can check out a video here that shows practicing for Sony Twilight Football:
Overall, I think it is a great idea on Sony’s part because I am sure night games are a challenge for photographers, so what better way to display their technology!
